The Raiders struck first, 27 minutes in as Jackie Burch raced up the right sight and beat Lehigh keeper Julie Kafka to give Colgate a 1-0 lead. The goal was just the third allowed all season by Lehigh, and snapped the Mountain Hawks shutout streak at almost 381 minutes.
The Mountain Hawks would pull level three minutes later as Molina’s centering pass hopped over a Colgate defender and Johnson beat Luisa Miller for her second goal of the season.
It was Molina who gave the Mountain Hawks the lead in the second half, with an unassisted goal in the 53rd minute to give Lehigh the lead. The Brown and White tacked on an insurance goal 15 minutes later when Johnson scored her second goal of the game and third of the season unassisted off an unsettled situation in front of the goal.
Lehigh out shot Colgate 16-15, including a 12-3 advantage in the second half. The Raiders had 10 corner kicks, while Lehigh had none.
Julie Kafka made eight saves for Lehigh as she improves to 9-1-1 and her goals-against average rose to 0.27 on the season.
“The first 20 minutes were a little shaky, but Julie (Kafka) made some big saves to keep us in the game,” said Lehigh head coach Manny Oudin. “After that we got a hold of the ball and really started to play. This is a big road win and a big Patriot League win for our team.”
The Mountain Hawks return to action on Tuesday night when they go back on the road to battle Bucknell. Game time set for 7:30 from
