BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In the 2005 home finale, Lehigh welcomes Bucknell to the Ulrich Sports Complex on Saturday afternoon.  The Mountain Hawks currently sit at 2-2 in Patriot League play, placing the Brown and White in a tie with Holy Cross for third place.  Bucknell comes into this weekend with a league record of 3-1, and has already clinched a spot in next month’s Patriot League Tournament.  Lehigh can clinch a spot in the tournament with a victory, with the seeding still to be determined following the outcome of this weekend’s league contests.

Lehigh’s last league game was an excitement packed 3-2 overtime victory against Colgate on October 22.  The Mountain Hawks found themselves down 2-0 at halftime, but behind the strength of two goals from reigning Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week Marissa Iannarone, were able to fight back and secure the crucial league win.  Iannarone scored the game-winner 6:30 into the overtime session, lifting the Brown and White to its first victory over Colgate since 1996.  Iannarone leads Lehigh in assists with eight, in points with 22 and in game-winning goals (3).  The New Jersey native is also tied for the team lead in goals with seven.

Sophomore Christy Smith scored the game-tying goal versus the Raiders with less than one minute remaining in regulation, her second tally of the season.  She currently has six points, fourth best for Lehigh, while senior Maureen Harrington is third on the Mountain Hawks with ten points (four goals, two assists).  Senior Meghan Gove was honored as the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for the third time on Monday, after the captain stopped every shot she faced in the second half and overtime session.  Gove has over 300 saves for her caeer, including 149 this season.  The Maine native leads the Patriot League in saves per game (9.93) and in shut outs with two.

Bucknell arrives in Bethlehem following a 2-1 non-league victory over Towson on Wednesday in Lewisburg.  The Bison’s last Patriot League contest was against Lafayette on October 23, also in Lewisburg, when Bucknell emerged victorious by a score of 5-1.  The Bison, who are 2-4 on the road this year, are led on offense by Alex Kyzmir, with seven goals and ten assists.  Amanda Faust and Kelly O’Brien have both added six goals, with Faust tied for second on the team with six assists.

In goal for Bucknell, Liz Jordan has started all 16 games, recording 156 saves along the way, which leads the Patriot League.  The senior has posted a 2.60 goals against average in 1,022 minutes of action.

Last year’s game, which was played in Lewisburg, featured an offensive assault, as the two teams combined for ten goals.  Lehigh came away on top 6-4, on the strength of three goals by Mary Beth Kuenne, leading a Mountain Hawk four goal second half charge.  Lehigh is 2-0 under head coach Julie Mazer in home finales, including a dramatic 4-2 victory over archrival Lafayette last year that sent the Brown and White into the Patriot League Tournament.

Saturday’s game is scheduled to get underway at 1:00, and will be broadcast live on lehighsports.com with streaming audio and video provided by Yahoo! Sports.
