Head Coach Manny Oudin was pleased to get yet another victory over a quality opponent like American. “This was a good win for us. American is a good team and to come out on Senior Day, which is an emotional one for our girls, and play like we did, it’s big.” Oudin continued, “We had two good results in a span of 72 hours this weekend and that’s a good thing. We must continue to take care of our opponents and give ourselves a chance to put them away. Overall, I’m pleased with our effort and I’m happy that we were able to give the seniors a win on their day.”
Lehigh got on the board first just five minutes into the match when freshman Christin Johnson looped a ball over the goal keeper’s head for her fifth score of the season, and a
Junior Daniela Molina would add a late insurance goal when she took a nice feed from classmate Gina Lewandowski and blasted the ball into the back of the net for a 2-0 lead and the victory. For the game Lehigh out shot the Eagles 18-8 and had two corner kicks to American’s four. Freshman Julie Kafka recorded yet another shut out in goal for the Brown and White, sending back four Eagle shots along the way. American keeper Kelsey Wiggins stopped nine shots in her 90 minutes of action on the day.
Lehigh returns to action on Wednesday evening when the Mountain Hawks host Army at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Game time is set for 7:00 and all of the action will be broadcast live on lehighsports.com with streaming audio and video provided by Yahoo! Sports.
