In the first half, a Sara Ellis three-point field goal gave the Mountain Hawks a quick three-nothing advantage, but
Jessica DePalo led Lehigh’s first-half efforts with ten points, while Ellis added eight, including two buckets from beyond the three-point arc. As a team, the Mountain Hawks shot the ball well, sinking 13-of-24 shots (54%).
In the second half, Lehigh struggled to score early, as the Mountain Hawks could not score for the first 4:52 of the frame. Fortunately, Lehigh’s defense held strong, holding the Lions to just two points during that time span.
Once the Mountain Hawks wrapped up that scoring drought, they began scoring in bunches. Lehigh ran out to a 15-point lead down the stretch thanks to some clutch free throw shooting, and won going away by 13 points.
Lehigh freshman Claire Sullivan scored a career high eight points – all in the second half – off the bench in the win. Sullivan also came away with three steals. Senior Mary Frances Hynoski added nine points and nine boards for the winners.
For the game, the Mountain Hawks shot 43%, but Lehigh was bolstered by shooting 15-of-17 (88.2%) from the free throw line.
