Lehigh falls to Marist in final seconds, 55-53

Sullivan finished with a career high six assists for Lehigh, and she also added seven points, including two three-pointers. Senior captain Jessica DePalo added 16 points on eight of 16 shooting, while sophomore Sara Ellis hit for 13 tallies. The Red Foxes received 15 points from Megan Vetter and 14 from Fifi Camara in the victory.
Lehigh struggled in the early going with its offense, as the Red Foxes jumped out to a 20-9 lead at the
DePalo scored 12 points in the opening stanza for Lehigh, while Jenny Callan added four points, but was whistled for three fouls. The Red Foxes received ten points from Vetter in the opening twenty minutes, as they shot 43 percent from the field compared to 50 for the Brown and White.
The second half started much of the same as the first as Marist ballooned its lead to ten with 15 minutes remaining, but Lehigh slowly chipped away and finally took its first lead of the half at the 5:27 mark on a three-pointer by Hynoski. The Mountain Hawks then kept its lead for the remainder of the game until Kresge’s shot at the end.
The Mountain Hawks wound up shooting 44 percent from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc, while Marist connected on 41 percent of its shots and 33 from three-point range. Lehigh out rebounded Marist 33-31, but had 17 turnovers compared to the Red Foxes 14.
