Thurmont, MD – Lehigh freshman Alison Webb won a playoff to capture medalist honors at the Mount St. Mary’s Fall Invitational on Monday afternoon at the Maple Run Golf Course.  As a team, the Mountain Hawks shot a 352 to finish second in the six team field.  The host Mountaineers won the event with a 348 overall.

Webb, along with MSM’s Shannon Prettyman and Heather Mulvaney of Robert Morris all shot an 82 to finish tied for the top spot overall.  The three advanced to a playoff hole.  There, Webb and Prettyman each sank their putt on the 18th green in three strokes to advance to a second playoff.  Those two moved on to a chipping contest, where Webb chipped within 15 feet of the hole.  Prettyman’s chip placed her within ten feet of the hole, but Webb sank her put while Prettyman’s rolled wide right.

Three of the four Lehigh competitors in the event were freshmen.  Newcomer Paige Cullen finished ninth overall with a 91.  Mary Meehan finished one stroke behind Cullen with a 92.  Junior Lauren Barton rounded out the Lehigh scoring with a 93 on the day.

Lehigh returns to the links on Sunday, October 11, as the Mountain Hawks host the annual two-day Don Mershon Classic at Indian Valley Country Club.
