Mountain Hawks hold off Monmouth 1-0

Lehigh got on the board in the eighth minute when Gina Lewandowski’s shot from the top of the box found the top corner of the net. It was Lewandowski’s fifth goal of the season and her 17th career goal tying her for second on the Mountain Hawks’ all-time goal scoring list. Karilyn Anderson notched her team leading fourth assist of the season.
The Lehigh defense kept the Hawks without a shot in the first half.
“We played a good first half,” said coach Manny Oudin. “But in the second half we got complacent and let them back in.”
Monmouth controlled possession in the second half. At one point Kate Sands took a shot that beat goalkeeper Erin Iwaskiewicz, but the shot hit the post and the Mountain Hawks held on to get back to the .500 mark. Iwaskiewicz finished with two saves.
Despite the win, Oudin sees plenty of room for improvement. “We need to be able to put together a full match,” Oudin said.
The Mountain Hawks return to action Saturday night to open up Patriot League play against Army. Game time set for
