First half explosion leads Lehigh past Eastern

The Mountain Hawks came out on fire sinking a ridiculous 67 percent of their shots in the first half en route to a 48-10 lead at the half. Lehigh hit five of ten shots from behind the three-point arc and seven of nine from the charity stripe, while holding the Eagles to 14 percent shooting on 3 of 22 shots and just one of nine from beyond the arc.
Lehigh was led in scoring in the half by Nick Monserez who hit all three of his field goal attempts en route to eight points, while Jose Olivero also hit all three of his field goal attempts as he scored seven points in the opening stanza. Mike Fischman grabbed a team high eight rebounds in the first 20 minutes, while Joe Knight and Mitch Gilfillan both handed out four assists. Eastern was led in scoring by Eric Houston who scored four points on two of three shooting.
The Eagles were able to cut into the lead in the second half, outscoring the Mountain Hawks 29-17 after the break. Lehigh only shot 36 percent after the intermission but still cruised to the 26 point victory. The Mountain Hawks finished at 50 percent shooting on the night and out-rebounded Eastern by a 41-28 margin.
Olivero led Lehigh’s balanced offensive attack with 14 points, while Fischman chipped in with nine rebounds and three blocks, both were career highs. Matt Flanagan paced the Eagles with nine points.
