Bethlehem, PA - Lehigh junior wide receiver and kick returner Gerran Walker was named the Patriot League’s Special Teams Player of the Week after his performance in Saturday’s league win over the Georgetown Hoyas. Walker returned the opening kickoff 89 yards for a touchdown and Lehigh never looked back in the 49-18 victory.

Walker followed some spectacular blocks and was never touched on the kickoff return. The score got Lehigh on the board only 15 seconds into the game. He also caught three passes for 61 yards, including a 43-yard touchdown reception down the sideline that allowed him to again show off his blazing speed.

The win pushed Lehigh even higher in the national polls, and the Mountain Hawks are now in the top ten in both surveys. In the latest Sports Network poll, Lehigh moved from No. 9 to No. 8, and in the ESPN/USA Today survey, Lehigh jumped from No. 12 to No. 9 nationally.

Lehigh (8-1 overall, 4-0 Patriot) returns to the gridiron on Saturday, when the Mountain Hawks host Fordham. Kick-off is set for just after 12:30 from Goodman Stadium.
