Annapolis, MD – The Mountain Hawks got two first half goals in a three minute span and the defense made the lead stand as Lehigh clinched a berth in the Patriot League Tournament with a 2-0 victory over Navy Friday night. With the win Lehigh improves to 11-5-2 on the season and wraps up conference regular season play 4-2-1. Navy is 3-10-4, 1-5-1 in the Patriot League.

Lehigh jumped on the board in the 19th minute as freshman Joe Clemente chipped home Adam Williamson’s centering feed to put the Mountain Hawks up 1-0. The goal was Clemente’s third of the season. Just three minutes later Lehigh would go up 2-0 as Peter Classi scrambled through traffic to record his first goal of the season.

The Mountain Hawks defense would buckle down in the second half, keeping the Midshipmen off the scoreboard. Lehigh out shot Navy 11-8 for the match. Charlie Sales made a pair of saves for the shutout.

The win clinches Lehigh’s place in the Patriot League Tournament. The rest of the tournament field will be settled following this weekend’s games. The Mountain Hawks are back in action on Sunday when they host Penn State in a non-league contest. Game time set for 3:00. The game will be broadcast live on the web at lehighsports.com and will be televised by Service Electric 2 Sports.
