The Quakers would get on the board in the 18th minute as Katy Cross scored on a feed from Katie Campbell. Penn would go up 2-0 on an own goal in the 24th minute
Lehigh would cut the deficit to one when freshman Michaela Pawlewicz scored her first career goal off a booming direct free kick from 30 yards out in the 29th minute and the Mountain Hawks trailed 2-1 at halftime.
The Mountain Hawks were unable to muster a comeback in the second half. Robin Watson scored an insurance goal for Penn in the 58th minute with an assist from Lydia Bojcun.
“We knew it was going to be tough to play a midweek game in between two big league games,” said assistant coach Mary McVeigh. “We didn’t come out with the focus we needed to have.”
Erin Iwaskiewicz made seven saves for the Mountain Hawks, who were out shot 13-6 on the afternoon.
The Mountain Hawks return to action on Saturday, when they wrap up the regular season against Holy Cross. Lehigh can clinch a berth in the Patriot League Tournament with a win or a tie against the Crusaders. Game time set for 1:00 from Worcester, Massachusetts.
