16th-ranked Lehigh set to play host to rival Bucknell

Lehigh returns Patriot League play as the Mountain Hawks host Bucknell on Saturday at Goodman Stadium.  Lehigh is coming off an exciting 30-24 comeback win at Yale last week.  In that game, the Mountain Hawks overcame a 21-7 second quarter deficit by holding the Bulldogs to only three second half points.  Bucknell dropped their second straight nailbiter at home last week, 14-13 to Lafayette, as the game-winning field goal attempt was blocked on the game’s final play.

Bucknell enters Saturday’s contest looking to stop a two-game losing streak, following a 3-1 start to the season.  The Bison are led by quarterback Daris Wilson, who averages 67 yards per game on the ground and 88 yards per contest through the air.  Dante Ross is averaging almost 33 yards per kick return in 11 tries.

Lehigh leads the all-time series between these two schools, 35-29-3.  The Mountain Hawks have had much success against the Bison of late, winning each of the last six contests, by an average score of 35-12.  Over the last 11 years, Lehigh has won seven times.  At Goodman Stadium, the Mountain Hawks have won the last three meetings between these two teams, but each squad has beaten the other four times.

Last time they met, Lehigh quarterback Kyle Keating threw for 332 yards and three touchdowns as the Mountain Hawks produced a convincing 45-9 win over Bucknell before 4,032 at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon.

Saturday’s game kicks off at just after 1:00 from Goodman Stadium.  Saturday is also Young Alumni Day and Wachovia Community Day.  Tickets for Lehigh-Bucknell may be purchased by calling (610) 7LU-GAME, or on-line anytime at lehighsports.com.
