Lehigh falls in Patriot League opener

Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh (5-6, 0-1) fell in its 2004 Patriot League opener on Saturday afternoon to Holy Cross (6-3, 1-1)by a score of 2-0 at the Ulrich Sports Complex.  The game was scoreless for most of the first half before the Crusaders scored two goals in the final two minutes to take control of the contest.

 

Holy Cross got on the board at the 33:00 minute mark when Jenna Cook took a pass from Jenna Potts off of a penalty corner and the Crusaders were in front.  Holy Cross then scored just 57 seconds later when Meg Ryan took a pass from Cook and found the back of the net to go in front 2-0.  The game would remain scoreless the rest of the way.

 

Lehigh had a plethora of penalty corners on the day, as the Mountain Hawks had 17 to Holy Cross’s five.  Both Lehigh and Holy Cross had 14 shots on the day, while in goal for Lehigh, Meghan Gove had seven saves and senior Jeanine Hoff had two in her 35 minutes of work.

 

Lehigh returns to action on Wednesday evening when the Mountain Hawks play host to UMBC at the Ulrich Sports Complex.  Game time is set for 7:00 and all of the action can be heard live on Lehigh’s website at lehighsports.com.
