9/25/2003 12:00:00 AM | Men's Wrestling

Lehigh steamrolled Nebraska 34-7 to win its first Virginia Duals Championship on Saturday evening. The Mountain Hawks won eight of the ten bouts en route to the title.
The Mountain Hawks were charged by Derek Zinck and Troy Letters pins over ranked men at 157 and 165.  At 184, Travis Frick handled No. 13 B. J. Padden and junior Brad Dillon added an impressive 13-5 major decision over No. 13 Travis Pascoe at 174. Lehigh's quartet of freshmen starters finished the tournament 11-1.
The Cornhuskers had advanced to the finals by downing 4th-ranked Illinois 20-17, but the Brown & White went 6-2 in bouts with top 20 wrestlers to engineer the big win over the Huskers. In the third place match, Illinois defeated Penn State.
The Mountain Hawks look to continue their four match win streak when they travel to Hofstra for a dual match on January 19. The 1:00 match will be broadcast live on both the Lehigh website at www.lehigh.edu and on 1230 AM, The Sports Monster.
