Lehigh moves on, will face Penn State

Hampton, VA - Lehigh defeated nationally ranked Edinboro, 24-9, in the second round of the Virginia Dual Championships. The victory sets up a rematch with archrival Penn State in the tournament semifinals.
      At 125, Mario Stuart sparked his team with an important effort with an 8-4 win. Other crucial wins came from Cory Cooperman (133) who edged nationally ranked Shawn Bunch, 7-6, Troy Letters (165) who beat No. 10 Matt King, 8-5, and Travis Frick who outwrestled No. 20 Alex Clemson at 184. A minor upset came at 197 where Jon Trenge lost his first-ever bout to an eastern wrestler, dropping a 5-2 duel with fourth-ranked David Shunamon. Freshman Derek Zinck and junior Joe Sahl scored the Mountain Hawks two biggest wins on the afternoon. Zinck gained an 11-1 major decision at 157, while Sahl picked up a technical fall in the heavyweight bout.
      Penn State advanced to the semifinal rematch with Lehigh after rolling through the first two rounds. The Nittany Lions defeated Cal State Bakersfield 43-3 in the first round before crushing Rider 38-3 in the quarterfinals. The Mountain Hawks shutout the Broncs earlier this season, 42-0.
      Lehigh hits the mat against Penn State on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm in Hampton Coliseum. In the other semifinal, top seeded Illinois will square off with Nebraska.
