Lehigh stymies Scarlet Knights

Bethlehem, PA – In the first dual of the Sheridan Duals on Saturday, Lehigh took care of Rutgers by a final score of 41-6. The Mountain Hawks jumped out to a 13-0 lead, then cruised winning nine of the ten bouts.
      Freshmen Cory Cooperman (133), Derek Zinck (157), and Troy Letters (165) all scored falls for Lehigh. Picking up major decisions were juniors Mario Stuart (125), All-American Jon Trenge (197), and Joe Sahl (Hwt.). At 184, Travis Frick picked up the match’s only technical fall, while senior Tristan Boyd won by decision at 149. Rutgers only scoring came when Greg Austin won by fall over sophomore Tommy Rohn at 141.
      In the other 10:00 AM duals, Drexel drubbed Slippery Rock 38-9 and Lock Haven won a seesaw battle over Rider, winning 20-15 in a match featuring five lead changes.
      At noon, Lehigh will take on Drexel in the second of the day’s three duals. Other 12:00 PM matches include Lock Haven vs. Rutgers and Rider vs. Slippery Rock. The Mountain Hawks will challenge Rider at 2:00 in the final match of the afternoon.
