Lehigh defeats Wolfpack in final home dual

Bethlehem, PA- In its final home dual meet of the season, Lehigh honored its seniors, defeating North Carolina State 26-15 Saturday afternoon in Stabler Arena. Ten Lehigh seniors were acknowledged prior to the beginning of the match for their outstanding contributions to the Lehigh wrestling program; Rob Rohn Chris Vitale, Shawn Laughlin, Warren Stout, Dan Hyman, Aaron Paterson, Greg Chirielson, Anthony Shave, Troy Minarovic and James Moore.
With the win the Brown and White moves to 13-5 overall and remains 6-0 in the EIWA. The Wolfpack fall to 11-6 overall and currently stand at 3-1 in the ACC.
At 149, Troy Minarovic dropped a 10-4 decision to Jake Giamoni and gave NC State their only lead of the match. With the loss Minarovic falls to 6-10 on the season.
Warren Stout pinned Kevin Gabrielson in an exciting bout at 157. Gabrielson recorded a quick takedown and a two point near fall to lead 4-0. Warren countered with two takedowns and then pinned Gabrielson in 6:09 to put Lehigh on top.
At 165, Chris Vitale earned his second pin in a dual meet this season, pinning the Wolfpacks’ 17th ranked, Pierre Pryor in 2:39. Vitale, ranked fourth nationally, remains undefeated in duals this season and bouts the team’s best record at 20-1.
Brad Dillon outlasted Dustin Kawa and recorded the 7-3 sudden victory decision. Dillon scored a takedown and a two point near fall in the overtime session to tab the win.
At 184, fourth ranked Rob Rohn earned his seventh major decision this season. Rohn recorded six takedowns en route to his 15-6 major decision over Jon Goodwin. With the win Rohn’s career record improves to 96-30, breaking the three-way tie for eighth place in all-time Lehigh wins.
Second ranked, Jon Trenge won his seventh consecutive bout, recording a 20-7 major decision over NC State’s Jason Gore. Trenge tabbed an impressive eight takedowns en route to the major decision.
In the heavyweight bout James Moore gave up several pounds to the Wolfpack’s Ngozi Collins. Collins recorded a 4-2 decision over Moore to give NC State six.
At 125, Mario Stuart dropped his first bout in five duals. With the bout tied at 4, NC State’s George Cintron did not allow Stuart to escape. Cintron took the tiebreaker and gave the Wolfpack nine.
Dan Hyman returned to the mat, after sitting out the last two duals, to record an 8-4 decision over Adam Cox. Hyman now stands at 11-9 on the season and has won his last two.
In the final bout of the afternoon NC State's Ryan McCallum pinned Tristan Boyd at 141. McCallum pinned Boyd in 4:49 to help the Wolfpack tab 15 points on the match. Boyd now sits at 6-6 on the season.
Lehigh takes to the road tomorrow, Sunday, as they travel to face Penn and Drexel. Lehigh will take on EIWA rivals, the Penn Quakers. That dual is scheduled to begin at 2:00 at the Palestra. The winner of that match will gain the upper hand in the all-time series. At 5:00 the Brown and White will travel down the road to match up against the Drexel Dragons.
