Lehigh tabs close win over Crimson

Boston, MA- Lehigh tabbed a close 21-20 victory over Harvard to remain undefeated in the EIWA. The match came down to the final bout at 184, where Rob Rohn recorded a 20-5 technical fall to give Lehigh the win.
      Second ranked Jon Trenge got things started for the Mountain Hawks at 197. Trenge used six takedowns, two near falls, an escape, and riding time to earn the impressive 18-4 major decision over Harvard’s Jonas Corl.
      In the heavyweight bout Lehigh’s Shawn Laughlin was unable to upset 12th ranked Dawid Rechul. Rechul handed Laughlin his second straight loss, pinning him in 4:04.
      At 125, Mario Stuart continued to wrestle well for Lehigh. Stuart recorded an 11-6 decision over Harvard’s David Germakain to put the Mountain Hawks up 7-6. Stuart is riding a two match winning streak going into the match at Brown.
      In an exciting bout at 133 Dan Hyman recorded a 5-3 overtime decision over the Crimson’s Kevin El-Hayek. Hyman used two takedowns and an escape to tab the win.
      At 141, Tommy Rohn returned to the mat, after missing the last seven duals due to an injury. Harvard’s Jon Mankovich pinned Rohn in 2:22 to give the Crimson their first lead of the match.
      Harvard’s Jesse Jantzen showed Troy Minarovic why he is ranked fifth in the nation. Jantzen recorded a 16-1 technical fall in 5:19 to put the Crimson up by seven. Minarovic continues to fill in for Mike Pirozzola, who is has been forced to sit out do to injured ribs.
      At 157, Warren Stout earned his third consecutive victory. Stout recorded an 8-3 decision over the Crimson’s Robbie Griffin. Stout is now 20-10 on the 2001-2002 campaign.
      Nate Cote filled in for an injured Chris Vitale at 165. Havard’s Pat O’Donnell recorded a 4-2 decision over Cote, who wrestled for the first time this season at 165.
At 174, Brad Dillon added another a win to his streak defeating Harvard’s PJ Jones. Dillon recorded a 3-1 decision to earn his fourth straight win.
      Tenth ranked Rob Rohn recorded seven takedowns to earn an impressive 20-5 technical fall over Harvard’s Brandon Kaufmann to give Lehigh the win. This is Rohn’s seventh straight win as he continues to be consistent for the Mountain Hawks.
