Lehigh dominates Pride

New York, New York- In the prestigious New York Athletic Club, Lehigh continued to prove its dominance. The Brown and White won its second straight Wednesday night, easily defeating Hofstra 29-6. Lehigh improves its record 5-3 as Hofstra falls to 3-4.
In a hard fought battle at 157 Warren Stout defeated the Pride’s Paul Siemon 3-1 in overtime. With eleven seconds left in overtime Stout recorded a takedown to grab the win.
At 165, 5th ranked Chris Vitale continued to be consistent for the Mountain Hawks. Vitale, now 13-1, earned a 13-8 decision over John Garriques.
Brad Dillon kept Hofstra scoreless recording a 5-4 decision over Ralph Everett. Tenth ranked Rob Rohn made winning look easy. At 184 Rohn tabbed the first major decision of the match. Rohn recorded four takedowns and two reversals en route to the 16-8 major decision over the Pride’s Jason Skretkowicz.
At 197 Jon Trenge, ranked second nationally, earned his second straight pin. Trenge pinned 11th ranked Chris Skretkowicz in just 2:14. Trenge now stands at an impressive 17-1, with his only loss coming at the hands of Cael Sanderson, ranked first in the nation.
At 125 Mario Stuart continued to improve his record, upsetting eleventh ranked Tom Noto. Stuart now 7-5, earned a 6-5 decision over Noto to make the score Lehigh 25, Hofstra 0.
Dan Hyman rebounded well from his loss against Penn State. Hyman recorded the meet’s second major decision, defeating Hofstra’s Frank Hoeffner 11-3.
Jon Masa was the first to put points on the board for the Pride. Masa recorded a 9-3 decision over Lehigh’s Tristan Boyd in the bout at 141.
In the final bout of the evening thirteenth ranked Mike Pirozzola was upset, 3-2 by Hofstra's Jason DeBruin, ranked eighteenth nationally.
Lehigh returns home to Grace Hall Friday January 11th. The Mountain Hawks will look to continue their winning streak against Princeton. The dual is scheduled to begin at 7:00
