Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh defeated Siena 3-0 on Sunday at the Ulrich Sports Complex in a game that saw the Mountain Hawks score more goals than their previous five games combined. Lehigh is now 2-4 on the season and the Saints fall to 0-5.
Senior co-captain Blaire Goodwin picked up a goal and an assist on the afternoon to give her seven points on the season. Sophomore Maureen Harrington and freshman Kelsey Smith also scored goals for the Mountain Hawks. Junior Jeanine Hoff and sophomore Meghan Gove split halves in the cage for Lehigh with Gove picking up two saves along the way.
Harrington’s goal came just four minutes into the contest, as Lehigh grabbed the 1-0 lead. Goodwin and Smith both scored in the second half, just five minutes apart, with Smith’s coming off of a corner, to secure the Mountain Hawk victory.
Head coach Julie Mazer was pleased with the all around performance of her team. "I thought we played a complete game today. We got a chance to let everyone play and I am just very proud of our performance." Mazer adds, "I gave them a little motivation before the game and at halftime and they responded by scoring quickly. We did a real nice job out there today."
Lehigh returns to action on Wednesday when the Mountain Hawks play host to Monmouth at the Ulrich Sports Complex. Game time is slated for 7:00 and can be heard live on Lehigh’s website.
