Hempstead, NY – Lehigh upended Texas-Pan American 66-52 Sunday afternoon in the consolation game of the Hofstra/Wingate Inn Holiday Tournament to improve its record to 3-2 overall. With the loss UTPA falls to 2-4. The win also marks the first time since a 1991 win over Buffalo that the Mountain Hawks have won a regular season tournament game. Both teams had trouble converting shots in the first half as neither team managed a bucket in the final four minutes, however, the Mountain Hawks took a 24-20 lead to the locker room. In the second half each team found their respective shooting touch. Lehigh was 12-of-25 from the floor, while UTPA went a solid 12-of-30. For the game, Matt Crawford led all scorers with 16 points. Matt Logie managed 14 points and seven rebounds, while Zlatko Savovic poured in 12 points and added six boards. UTPA was paced by Allen Holcomb’s double double. Holcomb posted 12 points and 14 rebounds, however, teammates Eric Montalvo and Kevin Mitchell each tallied 13 points. "We played a tough game today," said head coach Billy Taylor. "We did a nice job offensively and adjusted well to the quick turnaround of a late game last night and an early one today. We’ve worked hard to overcome our nagging injuries as well." Lehigh takes to the hardwood next on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. vs. Cornell. Top Performers
