Mountain Hawks fall in season opener

Storrs, CT – Lehigh opened its season with a 5-1 loss against Albany in the UConn Field Hockey Classic on Saturday afternoon. The lone scorer for the Mountain Hawks (0-1) was sophomore Maureen Harrington when she netted a goal at the 5:00 minute mark of the first period off of a penalty corner. Junior Jeanine Hoff picked up eight saves in goal on the afternoon for Lehigh.
Albany (1-0) got the scoring underway when Danielle Costello scored 24 minutes into the game. Lehigh then tied the game on Harrington’s goal just over a minute later, but that was as close as the contest would get. Albany scored once more before the half ended to take a 2-1 halftime lead, and came out quickly in the second half, scoring again to make it 3-1 and put the game out of reach.
Lehigh returns to action right away on Sunday morning when they take on the tournament’s host school, Connecticut. Game time is slated for 11:30.
