Third honor in as many days lands Bergen on AP team

Bethlehem, PA – Lehigh junior tight end Adam Bergen has been recognized for his stellar play for the third time in as many days. Wednesday, Bergen was selected to the Associated Press All-America Second Team. Earlier in the week, Bergen was named to The Sports Network’s All-America team, and was also recognized as an honorable mention ECAC All-Star.
Bergen led Lehigh and ranked third in the Patriot League with 70 catches for 840 yards in 2003. He averaged 12 yards per catch, and posted a team-high six touchdown receptions last season. Last month, Bergen was named to the All-Patriot League First Team, an honor voted on by the league’s coaches.
The Mountain Hawks were 8-3 on the season, and 6-1 in Patriot League play. Lehigh’s only league setback came at undefeated Colgate, who will participate in Friday night’s national championship game. Lehigh posted its sixth consecutive eight-plus win season for the first time in the storied program’s history.
