Bergen is an All-American

Junior tight end Adam Bergen was rewarded for his stellar play on the field as the 6-5, 255 pounder was named to the Sports Network I-AA All-American First Team on Monday.  Bergen becomes only the second player at Lehigh in the last ten years to be named to the First-Team by the Sports Network, joining Abdul Byron, who was selected in 2001.  Bergen led the Mountain Hawks and was third in all of the Patriot League with 70 catches for 840 yards this season as he helped lead Lehigh to an 8-3 record.  For his efforts, Bergen was named to the Patriot League’s First-Team as well.

This was Bergen’s first season as a starter, but he received plenty of playing time last year, which prepared him for a breakout season in 2003.  As a sophomore, Bergen hauled in 23 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns.
