Bethlehem, PA - Senior captain Blaire Goodwin continues to receive recognition for the stellar play she exhibited in her final season at Lehigh. Goodwin was named to the 2003 STX/NFHCA Division I All Region Second Team for the second consecutive year. This honor comes only a week after Goodwin was named a First Team All-Patriot League selection for her efforts in 2003. Goodwin led the Mountain Hawks in goals with 11 and points with 26. She also tied for the team lead in assists with four. Goodwin’s 11 goals placed her fifth in the Patriot League, while her 26 points placed her in seventh place. She leaves Lehigh as one of its most prolific scorers ever, as she racked up 26 goals and nine assists, which gives her 61 points over her career.
Head Coach Julie Mazer says that Goodwin is never one to seek individual attention, but with how well she played, it’s kind of hard for her to avoid it. “I am very proud of Blaire and happy that she is getting the recognition she deserves. Blaire is a team player and does not like to be singled out, but she has worked hard for this honor and to be named All Region two years in a row is indicative of the work ethic she displays on a daily basis.” Lehigh finished its season with a record of 7-12, which is three more wins than the Mountain Hawks had in 2002. The offensive firepower of Goodwin was one of the reasons for the sudden improvement.
