Bethlehem, PA – Two Lehigh student-athletes have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District II first team. Senior quarterback Chad Schwenk and wide receiver Dave Crockett were named to the squad, by a regional consortium of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Both Schwenk and Crockett will go on to represent Lehigh and District II on the national ballot.
“Chad Schwenk and Dave Crockett have been model student-athletes in our program, and have represented us well on the field, off the field, and of course, in the classroom,” said Lehigh head coach Pete Lembo. “It’s nice to see them be recognized for their academic accomplishments at Lehigh. Both are business majors, and both are bound for very successful careers.” Schwenk, a double major in supply chain management and marketing, boasts a 3.26 grade point average (GPA). Schwenk started at Lehigh for parts of two seasons before a wrist injury last month sidelined him for the bulk of the 2003 campaign. Earlier this season, he became the first Lehigh quarterback since 1999 to record two 300+ yard games through the air in the same season. A member of the 2002 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, Schwenk is a Dean’s List student and a member of the Lehigh Football Leadership Council. Crockett, who makes his second appearance on the all-district squad, has already earned his degree in accounting, and is pursuing a second degree in supply chain management. Crockett maintains a 3.70 GPA, and has been a Dean’s List student every semester at Lehigh. He is the current president of Lehigh’s Student-Athlete Council, and an active participant in Lehigh’s community outreach (C.O.A.C.H.) program, and Lehigh’s Football Leadership Council. Crockett is also a two-time member of the Patriot League’s Academic Honor Roll. On the field, Crockett has started all nine games and ranks second on the team in catches this season. Lehigh (6-3 overall, 4-1 Patriot League) returns to action on Saturday as the Mountain Hawks visit Bucknell. Kickoff is at 1:00.
