Bethlehem, PA – Two more Lehigh players have been selected to participate in the first-ever I-AA College Football All-Star Classic. Senior linebacker Tom McGeoy and running back Jermaine Pugh will join defensive end Mike Gregorek in this historic event. The game will take place on December 30 at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and will be televised by The Football Network. Both captains on the 2003 Lehigh team, McGeoy and Pugh have played pivotal roles in the Mountain Hawks’ success. McGeoy is the team’s active leader in career tackles, with 199 career stops. Pugh is once again the team’s leading rusher, and he ranks fourth all-time in career rushing yards at Lehigh. Name, Pos. Eight players from the Patriot League have been selected to participate in the event – including the three Mountain Hawks. All of the competitors in the contest are seniors. The Patriot League is one of 13 conferences participating in the game.
“Tom and Jermaine have both been very dedicated and very passionate contributors to our program over their four year careers,” said Lehigh head coach Pete Lembo. “We are very pleased that they will be joining Mike Gregorek to represent Lehigh and the Patriot League in this first annual event.”
Pete Lembo is in his third season as Lehigh’s head coach, and is a member of the I-AA Coaches’ Executive Committee that recommended the game’s format to The Football Network, who is producing the game. The Executive Committee did not, however, play a role in selecting the teams.
Lehigh returns to action on Saturday, as the Mountain Hawks take on Patriot League foe Towson at Goodman Stadium on Family Day. Kick-off is slated for 12:30. Patriot League Participants in the 2003 I-AA All-Star Classic
