Why Lehigh?: “I wanted the best school I could find in both wrestling and educational experience. I couldn’t do better going anywhere else.”
In 2005-06: Jumped two weights to 149 where he amassed 11-6 record before suffering season-ending injury in dual at Penn… Won 11 of 17 matches overall including eight dual wins… went 3-2 with two falls while taking eighth place at Southern Scuffle… defeated eventual All-American Eric Tannenbaum of Michigan 6-5 at January dual in Ann Arbor… could move down to 141 for senior season.
In 2004-05: After being upset in wrestle-off’s worked way back into starting lineup…finished with 28 victories, tied for second most on the team and qualified for second straight NCAA tournament…In first action of season went 5-0 to claim first place at Penn State Open… won six of seven bouts to place third at 133 pounds in prestigious Midlands Championships in late December… regained starting spot in dual lineup in early January and had a record of 13-3 in duals…lost to eventual National Champion Travis Lee of Cornell in EIWA finals…posted 1-2 record at Nationals.
In 2003-04: In his first year as a starter, Ciasulli posted an impressive 24-10 mark … won the Sheridan Award at EIWAs for the most pins in the least amount of time, pinning two opponents in a total of 4:01 … finished second at EIWAs to defending national champion Travis Lee of Cornell … qualified for NCAAs, going 2-2 in his first appearance
In 2002-03: Posted a 15-6 mark in his deferred year … defeated three EIWA placewinners, including win by fall over Cornell’s Alejandro Alvarez at the Wilkes Open … posted a 9-2 decision over Max Meltzer of Harvard in the ESU Open, and a 9-2 victory over Matt Eveleth of Pennsylvania at the Penn State Open.
In Secondary School: ranked first in the nation by InterMat Wrestling at 125 with a career record of 156-17 ... one of the top two recruits in all weights in Pennsylvania, winning state titles at 112, 119 and 125 ... one of two Lehigh three-time PA state champs (Olympic champion Bobby Weaver the other, with both from Easton H.S.) ... Outstanding Wrestling at the Reno Tournament, with a 15-5 decision over the USA Today high school wrestler of the year, Darrell Vasquez.
Personal: son of Mike and Ellen Ciasulli … brother Andy, 24, wrestled at Drexel; Seth, 19, is a redshirt freshman competing for starting job at 133 pounds at Lehigh; sister, Sara, is 25.
