Dutch Gaitley begins his first season on Lehigh men’s basketball’s coaching staff as the team’s Video Coordinator. He joins the Mountain Hawks after spending a season at Temple as a Graduate Manager.
As Graduate Manager, Gaitley helped the basketball program in a variety of ways. Along with assisting the team in practice and game preparations, he organized study hall hours for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams and helped coordinate athletes class schedules. He also helped the Owls review prospective student-athletes videos and letters before passing them along to assistant coaches.
A Haverford, Pa. native, Gaitley played three years of basketball at Monmouth before transferring to Temple and playing his final year of eligibility for the Owls. At Monmouth, he appeared in 88 games, averaging 2.3 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. During his only season with Temple, he helped the team to a second place finish in the Atlantic 10 and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Off the court, Gaitley was a Dean’s List Student at Monmouth, completing his undergraduate degree in just three years. At Temple, he was honored with the Harry Litwack Award for sportsmanship, dedication, devotion and conduct on and off the court. Gaitley also brings coaching experience to the Mountain Hawks as he spent summers working basketball camps run by Temple, Villanova, Duke Wake Forest and Notre Dame.
