Former Lehigh team captain Matt Ford ’16 joined the Lehigh coaching staff in April 2018. Ford, a two-year starter on the offensive line for the Mountain Hawks, will coach Lehigh’s tight ends.

Ford comes to Lehigh from Valparaiso University, where he worked under former Lehigh offensive coordinator Dave Cecchini. With Ford on staff as tight ends coach, the Crusaders went 6-5 in 2017, posting their first winning season since 2013.

In his first season out of college, Ford coached the tight ends at Franklin & Marshall College, helping the Diplomats to a 7-4 campaign in 2016.

Ford appeared in 30 games on the offensive line at Lehigh, starting the final 22 games of his career at left guard. He was a team captain and first team All-Patriot League selection as a senior in 2015, serving as the leader of an offensive line group that paved the way for one of the nation’s most balanced and productive offenses. Ford’s class also laid the foundation for Lehigh’s back-to-back Patriot League title teams in 2016 and 2017.

A native of Wall, N.J., Ford earned his Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from Lehigh in 2016.
