Justin Weaver ’08, a former linebacker for Lehigh, is in his second season on the Mountain Hawks coaching staff. Weaver saw time in nearly 20 games during his time in the Brown and White including a career high nine games during his senior season. The Georgia native totaled ten tackles that season, including two-for-loss. In 2006 Weaver appeared in six games and made eight tackles, broke up one pass and forced a fumble, while in 2005 he saw time in one contest. During his time in the Brown and White Weaver helped lead Lehigh to a pair of Patriot League championships.

In 2010 Weaver mentored the outside linebackers on the Patriot League’s top scoring defense, which allowed just 19.1 points per game. Starting outside linebackers Colin Newton and Tanner Rivas ranked third and fourth on the team in tackles, while Newton led the Mountain Hawks with 7.5 sacks. Rivas had 9.5 tackles for loss and was a second team All-Patriot League selection.

Weaver began his coaching career at Lehigh as a student assistant along the defensive line where he assisted the Mountain Hawks staff with day-to-day operations and broke down film. Weaver then moved to Morgan State University where he served as an assistant defensive line coach. In that role he was responsible for the defensive tackles and the offensive scout team and also assisted with the team’s linebackers. During games he oversaw the punt protection unit and the wedge backs on kickoff returns. In addition he assisted with scouting and film breakdown and was the weight room and walk-on liaison. During Weaver’s time at Morgan State, the Bears led the entire nation in overall defense, first downs allowed and third down efficiency.

Weaver has worked at a number of football camps including at Lehigh, Temple, Penn State, Morgan State and Lauren’s First and Goal Camp. He is a member of the American Football Coaches Association and the Black Coaches Administration. Weaver earned his bachelor’s degree from Lehigh in 2008 in Africana Studies and is currently working on a master’s degree in Sociology.
