WHY LEHIGH? “Lehigh has one of the best engineering programs in the country. I loved how I could play at a high level and receive a great education. Also, it is close enough to home that my family can come to games. From the first time I stepped on campus my freshman year, I knew this was the college for me.”
 
BEFORE LEHIGH: Four-year varsity starter who led Cheltenham High School in goals and assists all four years … Senior captain … Twice named to the All-Suburban One League team … Competed in travel field hockey as part of True North from 2005-16 … Helped lead True North to the 2015 National Field Hockey Festival Championship in 2015 … The team was undefeated, due in large part to Gianelle’s tournament-leading 32 goals … True North also became the Vipers U19 Indoor Tournament Champions … Played on the Souderton Strikers from 2013-15 as well … The Strikers were Limelight College Showcase U19 Finalists in 2015, Vipers U16 Indoor Tournament Champions in 2014 and competed in United Sports Club’s U16 Indoor Tournament in 2014 … Was a two-sport athlete who also started three years on the varsity softball team and was twice named to the All-Suburban One League team … All-Montgomery County honoree … Owned the team’s highest batting average, most stolen bases and was also a team captain as a senior in 2016 … Competed on the travel team, the Thunderbirds, which were finalists in the Spooky Nook Indoor Softball Tournament … Also led the Valley Forge Patriots to the Firecracker Showcase 18U Finals and USSSA 16A State Finals in 2014 … Strong in the classroom, Giannelle as a member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association National Academic Squad in 2015.
