• Miller’s Lehigh Player Bio
Jessica Miller, a 2011 Lehigh graduate will stay on as a graduate assistant coach after a decorated playing career as a Mountain Hawk. Miller takes over for Jen Angers, who accepted the head coaching position at American International College.
A starter from day one, Miller enjoyed a strong career between the pipes, playing 54 career games (48 starts). One of the team leaders, Miller will transition into a coaching role where she will work extensively with the goalkeepers.
“Jess understands the life of a Lehigh student-athlete,” said Blue. “On top of that, she exemplifies a great leader. She is someone, who everybody has always looked up to. She’s also a goalie coach, which is something we needed.”
A Lititz, Pa. native, Miller enjoyed a standout career at Warwick High School as a First Team All-State goalkeeper in 2006 after stopping 132-of-152 shots. The success carried over to her collegiate career where she started all 18 games of 2007 while leading the Mountain Hawks to the No. 2 seed in the Patriot League Tournament.
Miller went on to start 10 games in 2008, five in 2009 and 15 this past year, a season which saw her post a career-best .747 save percentage to earn her Second Team All-Patriot League honors.
Strong in the classroom, Miller has been a member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and NFHCA National Academic Squad each and every year. She is also heavily involved in SALSC (Student-Athletes Leading Social Change) by raising money for underdeveloped Ecuadorian villages.
“I loved coaching her, so I don’t think working with her [as a coach] will be much different,” said Blue. “It’ll be a great experience for the both of us. She’s always wanted to coach and is always involved in coaching somehow. She comes from a great high school and had a great career here, so I think she has a lot to bring to the table.”
