Why Lehigh? “I’ve been around Lehigh all my life and wanted to be a part of its great academic and wrestling tradition.”Tanen on Santoro: “I’ve known Coach Santoro for about eight years. He’s a great guy and one of the best coaches around.”
In 2010-11: Returned to 157 and went 13-10 with three bonus wins… started in seven duals, posting a 3-4 record… placed fifth at the National Collegiate Open… also competed at the Binghamton Open and the Midlands Championships, where he went 2-2.
In 2009-10: Began season as starter at 149… filled in at 157 late in season… defeated Mark Beaudry of Michigan for first win of season… pinned Brown’s Max Lewin in February Dual… competed in Penn State and Millersville Opens
In 2008-09: Won both his dual-meet appearances as part of 12-8 campaign… saw first varsity dual action in 5-1 win over Brett Haughton of Appalachian State at Northeast Duals… competed in East Stroudsburg, Nittany Lion, Wilkes and Clarion Opens, placing fifth at the late-season Clarion Tournament.
In 2007-08: Deferred eligibility… went 11-6 in open tournaments… placed fourth at the Wilkes Open with 6-2 record… also competed at East Stroudsburg, Penn State and Edinboro Opens… went 2-2 at Northeast Senior Freestyle Championships.
In secondary school: Two-time state qualifier… placed fourth in AAA at 152 as a senior… career record of 126-29… junior freestyle national qualifier and cadet national qualifier… 2005 state Cadet champion… three time member of PWCA State Academic Team.
Personal: Son of Steve (Lehigh ’81) and Marge (Lehigh ’80) Tanen… brothers Joe (27), Robert (25) and Nick (19)… sister Sarah (25)… graduated with a 3.70 GPA in Earth and Environmental Science.
