Lehigh to Host 2025 Paul Short Run Thursday and Friday
10/1/2025 11:11:00 AM | Paul Short Run
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The annual Paul Short Run presented by ASICS is once again upon us and is set to be hosted on Lehigh University's Goodman Campus this upcoming weekend. This will be the 51st running of the annual meet.
The Paul Short Run will once again be split up over the course of two days, with high school races taking place on Thursday, October 2 and college races taking place on Friday, October 3. This year, more than 7,000 total athletes will compete, representing over 600 different high schools and colleges. Six high school races will be run on Thursday while eight college races will occur on Friday.
The Paul Short Run is in honor of the late Paul Short who served as Lehigh's Business Manager and Assistant Director of Athletics for 29 years. During his tenure at Lehigh, Short became an avid fan of Lehigh cross country and track and field. He was a 1934 graduate of Lehigh and Roger S. Penske/Lehigh Athletics Hall of Fame inductee in 2000 who excelled as a football, wrestling, baseball and lacrosse student-athlete.
In 1969, former Lehigh cross country and track and field head coach John Covert organized the meet with just seven teams competing. In 1981, the women joined the Paul Short Run, running a 5K which eventually changed to a 6K in 2000.Â
The Wingate Bulldogs men's cross country team took home first place in the Gold 8k race, their first in the meet's history, with only 30 total points in a pool of 44 teams. All five of their scoring runners finished in the top 11. The Bulldogs were followed by Harvard in second place (95) and Utah State in third (109). Utah State's Camren Todd claimed the individual championship with a time of 23:18.8 followed by Wingate's Hamza Chahid and Lukas Ehrle in second (23:19.1) and third (23:28.7) respectively.
The women's Gold 6K race was won by Harvard, finishing the day with a team score of 134. They were followed by Connecticut, who claimed second place with 148 points, while Princeton finished third (155) in the team results. Connecticut's Chloe Thomas finished first with a time of 19:23.8 followed by Boston University's Vera Sjoberg in second (19:56.2) and Northeastern's Abigail Hassman in third (20:01.5).
In the Boys' High School Brown 5K race, Conestoga finished first as a team (142) while Daniel Gordon of Saint Joseph's Prep claimed the first-place prize (15:40.6). The Girls' Brown 5K was won by Radnor (203), just edging out Monroe Woodbury (215). Tri-Valley's Anna Furman was the race's top overall finisher (18:17.6). South Western won the Boys' White 5K (118 points) and Mason Kresloff took home first place (16:06.7). South Western (72 points) and their own Lyla Eltz (18:25.2) were the leaders in the Girls' White 5K race. Penncrest won the Boys' Gold 5k race with 209 points, and Carter Smith of Mifflin County was the first overall finisher at 15:04.5. The winner of the Girls' Gold 5k race was Haverford (138), with Harboro-Horsham's Lillian Dicola took the win (17:16.9)
