BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh volleyball continued Patriot League play on Saturday evening from Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall, welcoming in the defending league champion Colgate Raiders. The Mountain Hawks fell in four sets to the Raiders in what was the second of back-to-back matches this weekend.

Lehigh (7-4, 1-1 PL) and Colgate (4-8, 2-0 PL) provided the fans in attendance with a closely-contested set in the opening frame. While both the Mountain Hawks and Raiders held multi-point leads throughout the set, neither side was truly able to pull away from the other. With the score sitting at 20-19 in favor of Colgate, the Raiders concluded the set on a 5-3 run to win 25-22.

Set two went much differently, as it was Lehigh who jumped ahead to an early three-point lead. However, Colgate stormed back to gain a one-point advantage at 11-10. The two teams continued to go back-and-forth until a 4-0 run from Lehigh allowed the Mountain Hawks to pull ahead to a five-point lead. Kills from sophomores Ufuoma Omene and Alysia Fingall sealed a 25-20 set two victory for Lehigh.

Tied at one apiece, Colgate's offense hit its stride in the third, as the Raiders hit .500 with 16 kills to only one error in the frame. Lehigh's offense could not keep pace, and Colgate took set three by a score of 25-15. The Raiders then rode this momentum into the fourth set, collecting a 25-16 win to seal their second Patriot League victory.

"In sets three and four, Colgate definitely served much tougher and we didn't respond soon enough," said head coach Alexa Keckler. "I think we were a bit more intentional in our execution is sets one and two."

An array of players helped provide offense for the Mountain Hawks, as Fingall and senior Megan Schulte each tallied nine kills while Omene, senior Emily Stewart and junior Natalie Luscomb each added eight. First-year Kamryn Utley dished out 22 assist in her first career start while senior Kyleigh Brown's 17 digs paced the Mountain Hawks.

"When we have good passing, we have a lot of players who can score," said Keckler. "Trying to spread the ball around and create one-on-ones provide better opportunities for our attackers."

Lehigh returns to Grace Hall on Wednesday for a non-league matchup against the Rider Broncs. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Leeman-Turner Arena.

"We are excited to be back at home again and are looking to keep making gains in our performance," said Keckler ahead of Wednesday's match.
