
Zhu, Pineda Finish Top 10; Lehigh Third At Patriot League Championship

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Two members of the Lehigh women's golf team earned All-Patriot League honors as the Patriot League Championship wrapped up Sunday at the Bucknell Golf Club. Sophomore Yuki Zhu and junior Madison Pineda are both repeat all-league honorees for the Mountain Hawks, who shot 301 as a team Sunday to finish in third place out of six teams at 911 (300-310-301).
Four Mountain Hawks shot 77 or better in Sunday's final round, led by Pineda, who shot 73.
Zhu tied for fifth place at 225 (74-74-77), earning first-team honors for the second straight year. She carded one birdie in her final round.
Pineda is now a three-time All-Patriot League performer after tying for eighth place at 227 (78-76-73). She earns second team laurels for the second straight year after earning a spot on the first team as a first-year. Pineda birdied her first hole of the day and shook off four consecutive bogeys to par the final nine holes. Her 73 matched first-year Olivia Lu's first round score for the low round of the tournament for Lehigh.
Senior Venecia Zaia and first-year Stefania Fedun tied for 21st place at 235. Zaia finished with a solid 74 to go with a 77 and 84 over the first two rounds. She made two birdies on Sunday. Fedun shot 81 in her final round, with one birdie, to go with rounds of 76 and 78.
Lu followed her opening round 73 with back-to-back rounds of 82 as she finished in a tie for 24th place at 237. She made one birdie on Sunday.
First-year Bella Scanapicco closed with a strong round of 77 to take 34th place at 253 (83-93-77). Scanapicco carded one birdie as she shaved 16 strokes off her second round score.
Navy won the Patriot League Championship at 882, nine strokes better than runner-up Boston U. Lehigh was followed by Richmond (914), host Bucknell (925) and Holy Cross (955).
The individual champion was Navy's Stephanie Lee at eight over par 218. Lee beat teammate Sue Lee by one stroke.
The Mountain Hawks will lose just one player, Venecia Zaia, to graduation.
