Balanced Afternoon Effort Paces Lehigh On Day One Of Georgia State Invitational

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – The Lehigh women's golf team opened up action at the Georgia State Invitational Monday with 36 holes of play at Rivermont Golf Club. The Mountain Hawks posted an 11-stroke team improvement from Monday's morning round to the afternoon round, with their top four players breaking 80 in round two. Lehigh currently sits in 12th place in a 16-team field at 631 (321-310).

Senior Venecia Zaia led the way on Monday with a pair of sub-80 rounds. Zaia shot 79 in the morning and 77 in the afternoon, making one birdie in each round, and is tied for 36th place at 156.

Sophomore Yuki Zhu is next at 158 (80-78), which has her tied for 44th. Zhu made one birdie in her second round.

After shooting an 82 Monday morning, first-year Stefania Fedun was five strokes better in the afternoon, carding a 77 as she sits in a tie for 50th place at 159. Fedun totaled three birdies Monday, including two in the opening round.

Junior Madison Pineda went from an 82 in round one to a 78 in round two and is one stroke behind Fedun at 160, as she sits in a tie for 55th place. Pineda also carded three birdies, with a team-leading two in the afternoon.

First-year Olivia Lu is tied for 71st place at 164 (80-84). She made two birdies in her opening round 80.

Competing as an individual, first-year Bella Scanapicco sits in 88th place at 183.

Troy leads the team standings at 593 (301-292). The Trojans lead host Georgia State by six strokes and third-place Memphis by 10.

Rebecca Brink from Memphis holds the individual lead at one under par 143 (68-75). She leads Mahina Leveau of Georgia State by four strokes.
