
Lehigh Runs Past Cornell, Picks Up 73-51 Win

ITHACA, N.Y. - Lehigh women's basketball got back on track on Sunday afternoon, picking up a 73-51 victory over Cornell at Newman Arena at Bartells Hall. Lehigh improved to 7-3 with the win and The Big Red dropped to 3-8.Â
The Mountain Hawks shot the lights out from deep, shooting 45.2% from long range on 14 makes with 31 attempts. Lehigh was also effective from the field, shooting 28-of-60 (46.7%). Lehigh finished with 21 assists. Senior guard Colleen McQuillen finished with a game-high of six assists. She also tallied five points and three rebounds.Â
Senior guard Ella Stemmer led the way for Lehigh, tallying a season-tying 21 points after going 8-of-13 from the field, nailing five three-pointers.Â
In just her third-ever collegiate start, Gracyn Lovette had a career-high performance, scoring 17 points. Lovette connected on her first five three-point attempts. She also tallied five assists and three steals.
Senior guard Maddie Albrecht scored the opening point for Lehigh on a free throw one minute into the game and the Mountain Hawks would hold their lead for the remainder of the game. Albrecht had eight points, a team-high five points and two assists.
Lehigh went on a 9-2 run in the game's first five minutes and Lehigh would only continue to add on its lead, holding a 19-8 advantage after the first 10 minutes. The Mountain Hawks struggled in the second quarter offensively, only making four field goals, but they still held a 28-20 lead at halftime.
The third frame was a high-scoring output with Lehigh outscoring Cornell 29-24. The Mountain Hawks made eight of their 14 three-pointers in the third frame, shooting 61.5% from deep to help take a 57-44 lead heading into the final frame.
The Big Red scored the opening points of the fourth quarter to cut Lehigh's lead to 11 points, but the Mountain Hawks would limit Cornell to just five points in the final nine minutes of the game.Â
First-year Belle Bramer finished with a career-high seven points. Senior guard Kaylee Van Eps and sophomore guard Jessie Ozzauto chipped in five points apiece.
Lehigh took care of the ball on Sunday, finishing with nine turnovers. The Big Red recorded 23 turnovers.
Cornell's Summer Parker-Hall finished with a team-high of 14 points.Â
Lehigh will have a 13 day break before taking on Wofford at home on Dec. 21 at 12 p.m.Â
