Lehigh Completes First 36 Holes at UC San Diego Invitational at Torrey Pines

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Low scores were prevalent on day one of the UC San Diego Invitational Monday on the North Course at famed Torrey Pines Golf Club. Twelve of the 15 participating teams are under par through 36 holes with the 15th place team just seven over par. Lehigh carded an even par 288 followed by a 291 to sit at three over par 579 heading into Tuesday's final round.

Senior David Hurly is the low Mountain Hawk after 36 holes as he sits at one under par 143 (73-70). Hurly carded seven birdies, including five in round two. His second round 70 was the lowest for the Mountain Hawks Monday afternoon.

Senior Sam Barton and first-year Jake Roth are two strokes behind Hurly at 145. Barton made 10 birdies Monday and his opening round 69 was the low round of the day for Lehigh. He shot 76 in the afternoon. Roth shot 73 and then 72 and made eight birdies including six in his second round.

Carding consecutive rounds of 73 was senior Daniel Song, who made two birdies in each round as he stands at 146.

Junior Edmund Broderick is Lehigh's fifth scoring player. He shot 74 and then 79 to finish day one at 153. Broderick made five birdies, including three in round one.

Competing as an individual, sophomore Aidan Oehrle made three birdies in an opening round 71 and shot 78 in the afternoon with two more birdies to sit at 149.

Division II power Oklahoma Christian leads the team race at 20 under par 556. OCU leads Seattle University by one stroke, while Cal State Northridge is third.

Eirik Thomasson of Cal State Northridge holds the individual lead at 13 under par 131 (68-63). He holds a four-stroke lead over two players.
