Lehigh Leads Matthews Auto Invitational After Opening 18 Holes

APALACHIN, N.Y. – The Lehigh men's golf team opened Binghamton's Matthews Auto Invitational with an opening round 283 Sunday on the Links at Hiawatha Landing. All five of Lehigh's scoring players shot 74 or better as the defending tournament champions lead a 14-team field entering Monday's final round. The Mountain Hawks lead Monmouth by one stroke, while Villanova is third, four strokes behind the Brown and White.
 
Graduate student David Hurly shot four under par 68 and sits in a tie for second place behind Binghamton's Brandon Conner, the 18-hole leader.
 
Junior Aidan Oehrle is tied for 10th after shooting one under par 71, while sophomore Will Caronchi and graduate student Sam Barton are tied for 17th place at even par 72.
 
Senior Edmund Broderick is tied for 34th place after shooting 74.
 
Competing as an individual, sophomore Aiden LeBlanc had a good first day, shooting three under par 69 to sit in sixth place.
 
The Matthews Auto Invitational concludes Monday with the final 18 holes. Lehigh will play with Monmouth and Villanova going off the first tee beginning at 10:30 a.m.
