Lehigh Fifth After Round One At Bright's Creek Invitational, Second Round Suspended

MILL SPRING, N.C. – Playing its first round of the spring season, the Lehigh women's golf team shot 329 Saturday at the Bright's Creek Women's Invitational. The Mountain Hawks sat in fifth place out of seven teams after one round. Saturday's second round was halted due to darkness and will be finished prior to Sunday morning's final round.
First-year Madison Pineda led the way for the Mountain Hawks, shooting four over par 76 to sit in a tie for seventh after round one. Sophomore Sophie Holland is also in the top 10 as she is tied for 10th place after shooting 77.
Junior Hannah Foster carded an 85 and is tied for 32nd place, while classmate Iris Shin is 37th after a 91. Sophomore Sophia Taverna shot 92 and finished round one in a tie for 38th.
Jacksonville State shot an opening round 296 to take the team lead by 15 strokes over host Gardner-Webb. Leeyen Peralta of Quinnipiac is the individual leader after an opening round even par 72.
The Bright's Creek Invitational concludes Sunday with the resumption of round two plus the third and final round from the Bright's Creek Club.
