Nine Mountain Hawks Appear In First NCAA Coaches' Ranking

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh was well represented as the NCAA announced the first coaches' rankings on Friday. Nine Mountain Hawks are ranked in the top 33 at their respective weight classes as part of the rankings, which are determined a vote of 14 coaches in each weight class, two from each of the seven Division I conferences.

For ranking purposes, coaches may only consider a wrestler that has been designated as a starter at a respective weight class. Wrestlers must have five Division I matches in the weight class to be considered with at least one within the last 30 days.

Senior Jordan Wood leads the way for the Mountain Hawks, coming in at No. 7 at 285. Wood is followed by junior Josh Humphreys, who is ranked 10th at 157.

Returning EIWA champions Jaret Lane and Malyke Hines are ranked 15th at 125 and 133, respectively.

Sophomore Brian Meyer is the fifth Mountain Hawk to earn a top 20 ranking as he comes in at No. 20 at 165.

Two Mountain Hawks are ranked 24th in their respective weight classes: Connor McGonagle at 141 and Manzona Bryant IV at 149.

Rounding out the nine Mountain Hawks in the top 33 are Jake Logan (No. 31 at 174) and AJ Burkhart (No. 32 at 184).

The coaches' rankings, along with RPI and winning percentage will factor in the determination of automatic qualifier spots and at-large berths for the NCAA Championships in Detroit.

The second coaches' ranking and the first release of the RPI are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 10.

The 15th-ranked Mountain Hawks head to Stillwater, Oklahoma to battle No. 4 Oklahoma State Sunday at 3 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT at Gallagher-Iba Arena. Streaming coverage will be available on ESPN+.
The 2021-22 Lehigh wrestling season is presented by the Historic Hotel Bethlehem.
