BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh field hockey sophomore Erica Steele was named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week on Monday following a strong all-around performance in Sunday's 3-1 win over Bryant. Steele was part of a defense that allowed just five shots all game (only three on goal) while offensively, she got the scoring started with her first-career goal off a penalty corner.

The award marks the Mountain Hawks' second in as many weeks, following Lenke Havas' Offensive Player of the Week award last Monday.
Â
The goal came 2:40 into the second quarter to even the score at one. On the other end, Steele and the Lehigh defense allowed just one shot over the game's first 32+ minutes and only one shot on goal for the game's first 57+ minutes.

Offensively, as a team, the Mountain Hawks now have nine goals through three games (scoring three in each contest). It's the program's most through three games since 1984. It's the first time Lehigh began the season with 3+ goals in each of its first three games since 1975 (the program's third season).
