BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following a historic season, the Lehigh field hockey team continues to make history as three Mountain Hawks were named NFHCA All-Region for the first time in program history. Graduate student Lenke Havas was named to the first team while fifth-year senior Drew Pecora and junior Sarah Bonthuis garnered second-team All-Mideast Region honors. This comes after Havas was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and a first team All-Patriot League honoree, while Pecora garnered first-team laurels and Bonthuis were named to the second team.

Now a three-time All-Region honoree (and two-time first-team member), Havas will graduate as a five-time All-Patriot League member (four-time first-team honoree). A defensive midfielder, Havas anchored the Mountain Hawks' D, which finished third in the Patriot League in goals against average (1.83). She was named a Patriot League Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week this past season, tying for second in the league in goals (11) and tying for third in points (27). The 11 goals are tied for fifth most in program history for a season. Among many highlights, she had a goal and two assists in Lehigh's big 3-2 overtime win over Lafayette. Havas also tallied a hat trick in an early-season win over Longwood, and multiple goals in two other contests. Havas' 21 career assists are tied for the program record. She was recently named to the 2021 NFHCA Senior Team, becoming Lehigh's first player named since 2007.

Now a two-time All-Region honoree (after being named to the second team in 2019), Pecora was also named first team All-Patriot League for the second time in three seasons. She finished her final season tied for sixth in the league in points (24) and tied for seventh in goals (9). Very consistent, Pecora tallied at least one point in 12-of-17 contests. She scored a goal in each of the last three regular-season games, including the first tally in Lehigh's big 3-2 overtime win over Lafayette. Pecora scored what proved to be game-winning goal in a big 2-1 victory over Boston University. Pecora owns Lehigh's all-time record for goals in a season with 14 in 2019.

Bonthuis tied for first on the team in goals (11) and points (27), good for a tie for second and third in the Patriot League, respectively. Bonthuis' four game-winning goals were also tied for the league lead. She posted at least one point in each of the first six games of the year, and 11-of-17 during the regular season. Bonthuis recorded two goals and five points in Lehigh's 7-2 win at Colgate, earning her Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week. She scored the game's first goal in a 2-1 win over Boston University while having a hand in both Lehigh goals a game prior vs. Georgetown. Bonthuis ended the regular season with three goals over her final three games – one against Rider and two at Wagner.

The 2021 season will go down as Lehigh field hockey's strongest in nearly 30 years and one of the best in program history. The Mountain Hawks secured the program's first winning regular season and overall mark since 1994, while the four Patriot League victories were most since 1996 and most since the league expanded to seven teams with the addition of Boston University.
