Mountain Hawks Complete Day One of Lehigh Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's golf team shot 305 on day one of the Lehigh Invitational Friday on the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club. The Mountain Hawks and 13 other teams battled a combination of breezy conditions and fast greens Friday. Junior Sam Barton led the way with a round of even par 72 as the Mountain Hawks sit in sixth place after the tournament's first day.
Barton carded five birdies Friday and sits in a tie for sixth place at even par. Lehigh's second-lowest round among its main scoring team came from junior David Hurly, who made two birdies and is tied for 18th place at 75.
Behind Barton and Hurly, junior Daniel Song shot 78 and is tied for 31st place, while sophomores Edmund Broderick and Marco Arosemena both shot 80 and are tied for 50th. Broderick parred his first nine holes and finished with a birdie on 18, while Arosemena also made one birdie in his round.
Freshman Aidan Oehrle led the way for Lehigh's second group of five, shooting two over par 74 to sit in a tie for 11th place. Oehrle birdied the par 5 fourth hole and then holed out for an eagle two on 16.
Junior Alex Aurora and freshman Jahan Bains both shot 79 and sit in a tie for 40th place. Aurora made three birdies Friday, while Bains made one.
Sophomore AJ Gilpin made two birdies in a round of 81, to sit in a tie for 55th, while junior Joey Dotta shot 86 and is in 73rd place.
Siena shot four over par 292 as a team and holds a three stroke lead over William & Mary, while Harvard sits in third, four strokes behind the Saints.
Harvard's Brian Ma shot three under par 69 to take the individual lead by one stroke over three players.
The Lehigh Invitational concludes Saturday with the final 18 holes beginning at 8 a.m. from the Grace Course at Saucon Valley Country Club. Tee times for Lehigh's scoring team will begin at 10:40 a.m. with the Mountain Hawks playing alongside Lafayette and Fairfield. Lehigh's second team of five will play with Monmouth and Holy Cross beginning at 9:40. Live scoring will once again be available via GolfStat.com.
