Six Mountain Hawks garner EIWA Academic Achievement Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Six members of the Lehigh wrestling team have been recognized with EIWA Academic Achievement Awards, the league announced on Tuesday. Fifth-year seniors Jordan Kutler and Ryan Pomrinca, juniors Brandon Paetzell and Jordan Wood, sophomore Josh Humphreys and deferred freshman Brian Meyer were the Mountain Hawks honored.
To be eligible for EIWA Academic Achievement Awards, a wrestler must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better and must have participated at the EIWA Tournament. Also eligible are wrestlers with a 3.0 GPA or better who qualified for the NCAA Championships.
Kutler received the EIWA Academic Achievement Award for the third straight year, while Paetzell, Wood and Humphreys were recognized for the second consecutive season.
Both Kutler and Pomrinca earned undergraduate degrees last May and are enrolled in Lehigh's technical entrepreneurship graduate program. Kutler owns a 3.80 graduate GPA, while Pomrinca comes in at 3.75.
Among Lehigh's four undergraduate honorees, Meyer holds a 3.28 in mechanical engineering, Wood owns a 3.23 in management, Humphreys carries a 3.12 in Lehigh's College of Business and Economics, and Paetzell maintains a 3.10 in supply chain management.
Kutler, Wood and Humphreys were recognized by the National Wrestling Coaches Association for their academic efforts following the 2018-19 season.
A total of 84 student-athletes from the 17 EIWA member schools received EIWA Academic Achievement Awards.
The Mountain Hawks capped a 12-3 dual meet season by winning their third consecutive EIWA team title earlier this month at Stabler Arena. Kutler and Wood won their third consecutive individual EIWA championships, while Humphreys won his second straight.
