BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Lehigh men's cross country team finished its season on Friday with a 12th-place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. The 10K race was held at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course. The Mountain Hawks placed four runners inside the top-100.

Villanova finished first on the day with a score of 37 points. The Wildcats had four runners place inside the top-10, while the Georgetown Hoyas finished second with a score of 67 points.

Competing among 24 other teams, the Brown and White jetted out of the gates, as they looked to run ahead of certain teams.

As they approached the playing fields behind the football stadium, Brad DeMassa and Seth Slavin were right in the thick of things, while Sean Brown and Nick Norton followed suit.

When they hit the bridge at the three quarters mark of the race, both DeMassa and Slavin were still right beside each other, while Brown and Norton were 20-25 spots behind them.

When they hit the slight incline and fans cheering them on, the Mountain Hawks used that as motivation to end the race. DeMassa used the final 6,000 meters as a chance to separate himself from the pack. The junior was the first Lehigh runner at 50th with a tine of 31:38.60.

Brown, who is used to running longer races, was the second Lehigh finisher at 65th with a time of 32:04.60. Slavin finished in 85th with a time of 32.22.90.

"Brad's a real patient runner," Etters said. "He's really disciplined how he approaches every race. He stays calm and relaxed. I think Seth got a little too excited during the race today. Listen, Brad and Seth had a tremendous season for us all year.

"We didn't look like we stayed together too well," expressed Etters. "Had we done a little better pack running, I think we could have finished a little better. I think some guys were too aggressive and some were a little too patient."

Rounding out the scoring for Lehigh, Norton (fourth Mountain Hawk) finished in 100th with a time of 32:38.90, while Michael Mitchell (109th) was the fifth Lehigh runner at 32:59.30.

"I couldn't be prouder of my guys. They fought hard all year," Etters gloated. "They are such tremendous young men, and I think our junior class is special. That class will lead us to big things next year."
