BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Throughout the 2019 season, Lehighsports.com will catch up with the Mountain Hawks' first-years to get to know the newest Mountain Hawks. We continue today with MJ Schwab.

What was the most challenging part of preseason and the overall transition to college field hockey?
MJS: The most challenging part of preseason and the transition to college field hockey would just be the overall pace of the game and staying in shape to keep up with your opponents.

What has the transition been like in the classroom?
MJS: In the classroom, the college transition has been a change only because of the academic rigor that Lehigh upholds. However, the outlets that are offered for the student-athletes make this transition smoother.

What has surprised you most about your experience thus far?
MJS: What has surprised me so far this season would be how LUFH can adapt to situations that have not gone in our favor and still have the same energy and fight throughout the season.

Which teammates have had the biggest impact on you and why?
MJS: I would say that Anna Lehman and Drew Pecora have had the biggest impact on me this season because of my transition to the forward line. They are great role models for me on the field and are always giving me advice.

What program values do you best emulate that you feel have made you a great fit for Lehigh?
MJS: I feel that I best emulate the LUFH value of hard work, which has made me feel like a great fit for Lehigh.

What was the feeling stepping onto the field for your first collegiate game?
MJS: Stepping on the field for my first collegiate game, I was definitely extremely nervous, but knowing that I had the most supportive girls around me made it less stressful.

What has allowed you to become more comfortable with college field hockey as each practice and game has passed?
MJS: With each practice and game, I feel more comfortable at the college level play because of all the insight I get from my coaches and teammates that will help me improve each day.

How do you (and the team) stay positive despite the team's recent struggles?
MJS: Despite recent team struggles, we have kept our spirits high and used these situations to test how hard we are willing to work to turn things around.
