Lehigh returns to Grace Hall for weekend matches vs. Colgate, Army

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — After a one-month road-trip away from home, Lehigh volleyball is ready to return to Leeman-Turner Arena at Grace Hall for the first Patriot League home matches of the 2019 season. On Friday, the team will take on Colgate at 7 p.m. and then Army West Point on Saturday at 4 p.m. The Mountain Hawks are coming off two consecutive three-set defeats to American and Navy after starting the league slate 2-0 with wins over Lafayette and Bucknell two weeks ago.
Lehigh enters the weekend 9-9 overall and 2-2 in the Patriot League, looking to do work against the first place Raiders (11-5, 4-0). The Mountain Hawks are continuing to be led offensively by junior Sabrina Lancaster, who leads the way with 208 kills, averaging 3.71/set. Lauren Bright continues to pace the team with an attack percentage of .352. She also has 64 total blocks and is averaging 1.03 per set. Hannah Wright is ranked second on the team with 165 kills, averaging 2.75 per set and also has 36 total blocks. Emily Poole is second on the team in total blocks behind Bright with 62, but leads all teammates by a considerable margin with 13 solo blocks. Also on the defensive side of the ball, Allison Garrett's 145 digs continue to be a team-high, while Lancaster has 131 and freshman libero has 103 so far this year. Sarah Carman leads the team with 498 assists with Alina Lam second at 150.
The Mountain Hawks are hitting .224 as a team this season with 789 kills, averaging 12.1/set with 740 assists, averaging 11.4/set. Lehigh is ranked third in the Patriot League in blocks/set at 2.19.
On Friday, Lehigh welcomes first place Colgate to Grace Hall. The Raiders are currently unblemished in league play at 4-0 and are looking to extend that win streak to five on Friday night. Offensively, Colgate is led by Alex Stein and Alli Lowe, who have 230 and 226 kills, respectively. Sophomore Hailey Horn-Bostel not only leads the team in hitting with a .289 attack percentage, but also in blocks with 70, also ranked second in the Patriot League. Setter Julia Kurowski leads the team with 635 assists and is second on the team in digs with 170. The Raiders are hitting .223 as a team with 12.9 kills/set and 14.5 digs/set. Colgate leads the all-time series between the two teams, 41-19. The Raiders have won the last three matchups, both of last season's which includes the Mountain Hawks' 3-0 loss in the regular season finale at home that knocked them out of the playoff hunt.

Army's Courtney Horace leads the team with 167 kills, averaging 2.93/set, while Sydney Morriss has contributed 150 kills, averaging 2.83/set. Emmy Barnhorst leads the way with a .262 attack percentage, while both Barnhorst (61) and Monica Eckford (62) are atop the team leaderboard in blocks. Ana Oglivie has 281 digs this season, averaging 5.02/set, while Hannah Presley has the lead in assists with 316, followed by Nikki Lum with 284. The Black Knights are hitting .195 as a team with 12.6 kills/set and 16.8 digs/set. Army leads the all-time series over Lehigh, 40-16 and are victorious in six of the previous seven matchups dating back to the Patriot League tournament on Nov. 21, 2015.
